Bimbo Plant Concrete Repair
Concrete restoration, reinforcing-steel repair, and FRP installation formed a coordinated repair sequence at a Bimbo bakery in Oklahoma.
Delta Structural Technology completed concrete repair and FRP strengthening at a Bimbo bakery in Oklahoma. The scope connected selective demolition and reinforcing-steel repair with concrete replacement, surface restoration, and composite installation. Planning also included scaffolding, containment, dairy-tile removal, and a specified finish coating, creating a coordinated sequence from access and substrate repair through final cleanup in a food-production setting.

Project challenge
The composite work depended on completing the underlying concrete repairs first. Demolition, reinforcing-steel treatment, formwork, and concrete placement all affected the surface that would later receive the FRP. Existing dairy tile introduced another interface within the repair area. The work therefore needed to be organized as a restoration sequence, with each operation preparing the area for the next.

Project approach
Delta’s scope was developed from the FRP drawings and a site visit. It began with scaffolding and containment, followed by demolition and reinforcing-steel repair. The plan then moved through form construction, dairy-tile removal, concrete pourback, and floor finishing. Only after those activities did the sequence call for FRP surface preparation and installation to the Simpson design. A specified paint finish and removal of scaffolding completed the planned work package.
Delivery and coordination
The delivery plan connected access systems and containment to the repair sequence, rather than treating them as separate logistics. Crew planning also had to follow the transition from demolition to concrete placement and then to bonded reinforcement. The schedule identified these activities individually so that the team could coordinate the changing work areas and the readiness of the receiving surfaces.
Project significance
The Bimbo project illustrates the close relationship between concrete restoration and composite strengthening in an industrial facility. FRP installation was one part of a larger process that addressed the substrate, embedded reinforcement, floor finish, and work-area access. Defining that full sequence helped translate the engineering requirement into a practical repair package.
