Many parking garages in the United States are in need of major repair and renovation due to corrosion and long lifespan. Delta Structural Technology LLC. has performed these repairs on countless parking garages for over 20 years throughout the Southwest and into the Southeast. Delta partners with firms that provide ground penetrating radar scanning to see the reinforcement below the surface of the existing concrete beams, slabs, walls, and columns. We also partner with structural engineering firms to determine the capacity loss or additional capacity requirements for change of use. Delta provides a repair plan for the owner with all the above listed information and executes the repair construction consisting of concrete repair, crack injection, frp carbon or e-glass wrap to enhance the capacity of the structure, and coat with a uv resistant top coating. In some cases, fire proofing is also required and provided.
Capacity without losing spaces
The engineering is rarely the hard part of a garage. The deck has to keep taking cars, the reinforcement cannot cost parking spaces, and it cannot cost headroom. Externally bonded composite answers all three at once: it adds capacity in a few millimetres of thickness and is applied from below, so no bay is lost and no clearance changes. Where a member needs stiffness rather than strength, section enlargement and new distribution ribs do that part instead, and the two are designed as one system.
