Chase Sapphire Lounge Slab Strengthening
Recessed CFRP slab strengthening coordinated with floor infill and adhesion testing.
Delta Structural Technology completed the Chase Sapphire Lounge CFRP project. The approach recessed carbon fiber into the top of an existing structural concrete slab so the reinforcement could be coordinated with a flush finished surface. The case also shows the importance of assigning responsibility for adhesion testing before installation.

Project challenge
The July 2024 proposal referenced detail 1 on sheet S04.01.L, which showed the CFRP inset into the slab. This required controlled surface removal and a clear division between carbon fiber installation and the subsequent infill. The reinforcement system and the finished floor had to be coordinated as connected parts of the work.
Project approach
The proposal described one layer of 24-inch-wide Tyfo SCH-41 strips at the slab top, together with grinding and approximately one-half inch of scabbling. Delta’s recorded scope included installation of the CFRP; Ardex infill was assigned to others.
Delivery and coordination
Project correspondence addressed adhesion testing alongside revised shop drawings and calculations. The team clarified who would perform the pull tests and how that work would be arranged when a separate testing agency was unavailable.
Project significance
Recessed reinforcement connected the structural strengthening work with the finished floor elevation. Defined responsibilities for CFRP installation, subsequent infill and adhesion testing helped organize the interfaces within the lounge renovation.
