Port Canaveral CT10
Port Canaveral CT10 CFRP installation was accepted following review of surface preparation, bond tests, material tests and daily records.
Delta Structural Technology completed CFRP installation at Port Canaveral Cruise Terminal 10. Fyfe’s December 2016 verification letter accepted the Tyfo SCH-41-2X system installation based on the project documentation. The review covered substrate preparation, field adhesion testing, laboratory material testing and daily installation records, providing a detailed account of how the composite work was checked.

Project challenge
The installation had to meet the project’s specified bond and material criteria, not simply achieve visual coverage of the pier surfaces. Surface profile, moisture, temperature, fiber orientation and resin preparation all formed part of the quality record. The project therefore required field application and documentation to advance together, with samples and tests connected to the installed work.
Project approach
The preparation used abrasive grinding to achieve the specified CSP-2 profile. Fyfe inspected the prepared surfaces and observed primer and pre-saturated hand lay-up application. The verification also addressed fiber orientation and the Tyfo A finish. Daily records identified installation locations, dates, environmental conditions and fabric and resin lots, linking the field application to its traceable materials and conditions.
Delivery and coordination
Field pull-off tests met the project’s minimum bond criterion of 200 psi; the verification letter reported average values ranging from 375 to 560 psi. Three sample panels were tested by Accu-Test Structural Laboratories, with reported results meeting the specified tensile performance criteria. Fyfe also reviewed records of surface moisture, saturation and sample preparation before issuing acceptance of the installation.
Project significance
CT10 demonstrates a quality process for marine composite strengthening. The case combines field inspection, adhesion tests, material testing and installation records into an acceptance package. Its value is specific: the verified tests and observations support the quality of the installed CFRP system against the project requirements, providing a clear basis for construction turnover.
