Delta Structural Technology completed concrete repairs beneath the home-side stands at Sundown High School Stadium in Sundown, Texas. The scope combined localized restoration of the column-and-beam structure with glass-FRP confinement and a protective finish.

Project challenge
Delta’s site survey identified distressed concrete within the supporting structure beneath the stands. The repair limits needed to follow the extent of unsound material, including deterioration that might not be fully apparent from the surface. The work therefore began with sounding around distressed areas to establish where removal and restoration were required.
Project approach
The specified sequence called for removal of defective concrete, cleaning of the concrete substrate and mechanical cleaning of existing reinforcing steel. Bonding agents and repair mortars were to be applied according to their manufacturers’ requirements. One layer of glass FRP was specified at areas where concrete was removed and replaced, providing confinement around the localized repairs.
Delivery and coordination
After the composite system cured, the plan called for pressure washing and application of a water-dispersed acrylic protective coating across the exposed concrete structure. The coating scope excluded structure enclosed within the old field house. This distinction separated localized structural repair areas from the broader exposed surfaces receiving the finish. Coordination with Sundown ISD addressed staging and unobstructed access beneath the stands.
Project significance
Sundown Stadium illustrates how a repair program can combine localized concrete restoration with a broader protective treatment. The approach tied removal limits to field sounding, restored damaged areas and applied glass reinforcement where repairs were made. Delta’s work brought these steps together within the supporting frame of a school athletic facility.
