Glass Fiber Strengthening
Where e-glass earns its place over carbon, and the shear and axial cases it answers.
Glass fiber strengthening or e-glass is used primarily for shear applications and additional axial capacity on columns. It is also used in blast and flood protection because it can slightly flex and distribute the load. E-glass is not to be confused with automotive and boat glass with a 6000 psi capacity versus e-glass with an 84,000 psi strength. The material is saturated in epoxy and top coated with a uv resistant paint. The system can also be fire coated if required.
