An exterior reinforcement route resolved floor-interface conflicts in the Ameritek building’s vertical FRP strengthening layout.
Delta Structural Technology completed glass FRP work at the Ameritek Corp building. The project’s detailing addressed how vertical composite reinforcement would continue past floor levels. Coordination with Simpson Strong-Tie resolved an interface between the floor slabs and the intended reinforcement path, with an exterior application approach developed for locations where the interior route conflicted with the structure.

Project challenge
The drawings showed anchorage at stairwell landings but did not initially resolve every floor interruption encountered by the vertical FRP. The team needed to identify affected locations and understand the slab geometry before settling the reinforcement path. That condition made continuity across floor levels a central detailing issue rather than a routine surface-application decision.
Project approach
Delta raised the floor-interruption question with the composite engineering team and requested details for the affected locations. The subsequent approach used exterior application where the interior reinforcement path conflicted with the floors, avoiding the additional through-floor anchors discussed earlier. The team then requested the associated calculations for submission to the city. The design response thus adjusted the placement route around the existing building geometry.
Delivery and coordination
The correspondence connected the engineer of record’s review, the supplier’s shop drawings and calculations, and city approval with the planned field start. A supplier representative also coordinated a site visit around installation. Those exchanges show how the final reinforcement route needed to be resolved before field placement and how the accepted geometry affected the supporting approval package.
Project significance
Ameritek illustrates a practical issue in multi-level FRP strengthening: reinforcement continuity must be detailed through or around floor interfaces. The project’s technical focus is the use of an alternate application face to address a physical conflict. Effective coordination links that field condition with the engineering detail and approval process.
