Delta Structural Technology completed a site-assessment engagement for Guam Regional Medical City. Working with Garner Consulting Group and DCK, Delta supported evaluation of a potential FRP repair and the engineering, review and logistics needed to develop it.

Project challenge
The project team was considering repair options involving existing couplers. An FRP alternative required a feasibility review and technical substantiation before installation could be planned. The project’s island location added a separate question: how to make the materials available within the construction schedule while allowing time for the necessary engineering review.
Project approach
Delta arranged the engineering site visit and coordinated discussion of the proposed reinforcement approach. The anticipated design package included calculations, drawings and supporting literature and test information requested by the engineer. Review also involved an engineer able to seal work in Guam and the engineer of record. These steps were material to deciding whether the FRP approach could fit the project’s timing.
Delivery and coordination
The coordination process considered ocean shipment and possible expedited material delivery. The team ultimately reported that the client selected a conventional coupler-replacement approach. Delta’s completed role in the records was the site-assessment and repair-option engagement, including coordination of engineering input and the conditions that would govern a composite alternative.
Project significance
This project illustrates a valuable part of repair work that occurs before installation: establishing whether a proposed method fits the technical requirements, review process and practical delivery window.
