Rooftop Cinema Houston Phase Two
Beam and slab CFRP strengthening with recessed reinforcement for a flush rooftop floor.
Delta Structural Technology completed the Rooftop Cinema Houston Phase 2 project. The documented strengthening scope combined beams, slabs, and recessed top-of-slab reinforcement. It linked the structural work to a 100 psf live-load design requirement and to the need to restore a flush floor surface over the reinforcement.

Project challenge
The October 2022 budget proposal described an expanded beam scope, increasing from four to sixteen beams, together with new top-of-slab reinforcement requirements. The floor work created a coordination problem beyond simply applying carbon fiber: the reinforcement had to fit into a recessed surface and be covered by a compatible pour-back.

Project approach
The scope included stamped engineering and calculations, material procurement after submittal approval, surface preparation, and installation to approved shop drawings. At the top of the slab, the plan called for removing approximately one-half inch of concrete, installing carbon fiber, and restoring the surface flush with Ardex material.
Delivery and coordination
Delta’s recorded scope covered protection of existing finishes and surrounding areas, layout, reinforcement, and cleanup. The budget separated top-of-slab preparation, top reinforcement, beam reinforcement, slab reinforcement, and the pour-back. This made the interfaces between structural work and the finished floor visible in the project plan.
Project significance
Recessed reinforcement made floor elevation part of the structural-strengthening plan. The project combined multiple reinforcement zones with a compatible pour-back, connecting the design live-load requirement to the construction of a flush finished surface.
