UPS Louisville Tilt Wall Joint Repair
Targeted carbon fiber repair at a UPS tilt-wall joint, integrating surface preparation, elevated access and finish treatment.
Delta Structural Technology completed a targeted tilt-wall repair at UPS in Louisville, Kentucky. The repair scope centered on carbon fiber reinforced polymer across the affected joint, with preparation of the concrete and a painted finish. Developed for Denham Blythe, the project brought together concrete repair, bonded reinforcement and elevated access within a focused building-envelope intervention.

Project challenge
The repair involved a joint between tilt-wall concrete elements. The proposed reinforcement detail addressed both sides of that joint, making access and surface condition important to installation planning. The work required the receiving concrete to be prepared before the composite system could be bonded, with localized concrete repairs incorporated where needed within the treatment area.
Project approach
Delta’s repair sequence began with staging and marking the reinforcement location. The scope then called for concrete repairs where required, followed by surface preparation to the material manufacturer’s requirements. Epoxy application preceded placement of the carbon fiber system. The proposed detail used a single layer on both sides of the joint and included painting after installation. The emphasis was a defined repair at the joint rather than a building-wide strengthening program.
Delivery and coordination
The planning scope included a rented personnel lift for access to the wall. A product submittal package was part of Delta’s responsibilities, while staging space and necessary permits were assigned to the general contractor. The installation plan also depended on suitable concrete moisture and temperature conditions during application and curing, aligning site readiness with the requirements of the bonded composite system.
Project significance
The UPS Louisville project illustrates a compact use of composite reinforcement at an existing concrete wall joint. The scope connected concrete preparation, reinforcement placement and finish treatment in one repair sequence. Its value as a case study lies in the specificity of the intervention: a localized wall condition addressed with a carefully laid out bonded system.
