Berwick Bay Bridge Rehabilitation
Concrete restoration and CFRP strengthening across identified Berwick Bay Bridge areas.
Delta Structural Technology completed rehabilitation work at the LA 182 Berwick Bay Bridge in Saint Mary, Louisiana. The scope combined structural concrete patching, epoxy injection, carbon fiber reinforcement, and painting. The project illustrates an integrated repair scope across several identified bridge areas.

Project challenge
The project scope separated repairs to the concrete itself from external reinforcement of the bridge members. It identified approach-span, superstructure-approach, and main-truss-area CFRP work. This division helped relate the repair activities to defined portions of the structure rather than describing the bridge as one undifferentiated work area.
Project approach
Delta’s proposal to Southern Road and Bridge included preparation of the concrete surfaces and application of the carbon fiber composite system to the members specified in the construction drawings. Separate items covered patching, epoxy injection, and painting of the CFRP. The planned installation was supported by product submittals and shop drawings.
Delivery and coordination
The proposal identified access as the general contractor’s responsibility. Delta’s scope included mobilization, staging, surface preparation, application, cleanup, and demobilization. Making the access interface explicit was important to organizing the repair work across the different bridge zones.
Project significance
Berwick Bay brought concrete restoration and composite reinforcement into one repair scope. Patching and injection addressed the concrete substrate, while the specified carbon-fiber treatment and paint completed the strengthening and protective work in the identified bridge areas.
