District 62
Concrete repair and carbon fiber strengthening formed a coordinated scope at Bridge K in Louisiana DOT District 62.
Delta Structural Technology completed concrete repair and carbon fiber strengthening within the Louisiana DOT District 62 repair program. The scope identified Bridge K as the location for a combined substrate-repair and composite installation package. The project illustrates how a focused bridge repair can connect local concrete restoration with engineered reinforcement.

Project challenge
The work combined two related needs within a defined bridge area: repairing concrete and installing an externally bonded strengthening system. The condition of the receiving surface was therefore part of the structural scope. Layout, surface preparation, and material approval all needed to align with the applicable bridge details before the composite could be installed.
Project approach
Delta’s proposal referenced structural drawing pages 149 and 150 and separately identified the concrete repair and CFRP areas at Bridge K. The proposed sequence included submittals, material procurement after approval, protection of adjacent finishes where needed, reinforcement layout, and surface grinding to the manufacturer’s requirements. Composite application was to follow shop drawings approved by the engineer of record, followed by cleanup of Delta’s work area.
Delivery and coordination
The plan identified staging, permits, and site facilities as contractor provisions, with third-party testing and inspection handled separately from the installation price. Coordination of the bridge repair detail with approved product information was central to the field sequence. The concrete repair and preparation work also needed to leave the receiving area ready for the specified bonded reinforcement.
Project significance
District 62 demonstrates a compact repair-and-strengthening package within a broader transportation program. Its technical focus is the relationship between restored concrete, bonding-surface preparation, and the final composite layout. Treating these as connected activities helps define a practical intervention at the selected bridge location.
